The Market Revolution
As many programming languages and Web3 projects start, we must say, Hello World! We are Puy, a company aiming to revolutionize markets by tokenizing Real-World Assets (RWAs due to its acronym), which is digitalizing and financiering assets through technology, in this case, Blockchain technology. We want to become your trusted intermediary, guiding you through the complexities of Blockchain and the crypto space and providing an excellent opportunity to invest and learn how tokenization works. This first paper aims to clarify what tokenization means and what Puy aims to create, ensuring you feel reassured and supported in your investment decisions.
First, let me introduce myself. My name is Juan Martin Osorio; I'm one of Puy's co-founders and an enthusiast about investments and Web3. Since I was thirteen, I've been buying many different types of goods, starting with gold at the age mentioned before. I am young, only twenty-seven years old, but I have worked in many other industries with specific knowledge of each sector, but with one rule that must always stand first; everything in life is a business. When I say everything, I mean every aspect of human life in this World. If you want a healthy life, you must invest in having the best food you can and time to work out. Will you see changes on the first day? Or month? Probably not. Changes will happen slowly, but they will eventually arrive. How you interact with everyone in your life is a business. It is different from how you should treat people for the economic benefit they will provide in the future but how you approach someone and establish a conversation. This way of thinking about life has made me search through philosophy and many other learning mechanisms to understand more about the relationship between humans.
Puy is the perfect ally for managing your finances and investments. The World is constantly changing, and technology is rising at a pace that is hard to keep up with. Nonetheless, many constants are kept through the years. Markets tend to keep the basics regardless of the period in history or the civilization responsible for serving as the host for the businesses to occur. The first company to sell stocks happened in Amsterdam in 1611 when the Dutch East India Company wanted to raise capital by selling stocks and promising future dividends. Indeed, this, for the time, was highly revolutionary, but immediately afterward, many companies started doing the same, and investors were buying any stock without any valid and necessary background. As a result, many people lost money, and regulation was required for these types of businesses. Isn't this too similar to the .com or the crypto (ICO or Initial Coin Offering) bubble? So, what makes crypto revolutionary if it is the same principle as what has been done since 1611? The short answer is tokenization, a concept that inspires and excites about the future of investments.
Notably, humans have had excellent ideas for generating income throughout their lives, but indeed, what has been a real game changer is technology. Webpages have allowed us to break physical barriers, allow communication, and digitalize investments worldwide without the need to travel to buy stock in Amsterdam (to keep with the example explained above). Subsequently, new ideas emerged from this, leading to the creation of Bitcoin in 2008. With crypto, no central actor keeps your assets, allowing you to trust that transactions and investments are being appropriately managed based on technology without the appearance of any human intermediary (reducing human error or corruption). Tokenization is just a tool to ensure the same that has been done since 1611, utilizing technology and avoiding unnecessary intermediaries.
Tokenization is just the digital representation of an asset that allows immediate exchange between people or companies without any human intermediary, allowing markets to operate worldwide 24 hours a day. This allows individuals around the World to buy your stock and have access to assets that previously weren't available, creating value for both companies and individuals. As said before, tokenization is just a tool for doing what humans have done for more than 400 years with better results and improvements, creating much better interchange mechanisms than before.
